In dogs, the range is between 3 and 18 days (with an average of 5 to 10 days). In cats, which are more resistant, it can take longer (up to three weeks) before signs of tetanus become apparent (Dewey and Talarico, 2016). WebIs there an effective treatment? Tetanus is easy to prevent but difficult to treat. However, if signs are detected very early and the disease is not too severe, treatment can be successful using therapeutics such as antitoxin and antibiotics.
