A personality flashback occurs when there is an aspect of a character's personality that is best revealed through an anecdote from their past which illuminates who they are, but is not itself an incident in the story. WebInteresting point, but don't think the movie is going that route. The invasive lifeform for Fred was the memory of his mom telling him not to go outside his room and be safe. She didn't purposefully impair his ability to perceive alternative timelines, she was just trying to keep her child from hurting himself.
