If so, I would check the BIOS if possible, start the system tapping F2 and choose the Exit tab. Choose Restore to Defaults and then select yes. Then select the Advanced tab and make sure that USB Emulation is enabled.

Reoccurred, un/install driver, back to thinking it is heat related, the fan intake is in a bad location, bottom left of the laptop. With the laptop on the lap the fan is covered.
